How ‘Stopping’ was our Secret to Fundraising Success

Whether it was that last pint after work or a Sunday night takeaway, this October some of our most generous MVFers gave up some of their favourite things to fundraise as part of Stoptober.

The concept was simple. ive up one thing over the month of October and donate the money you would have spent to Action for Children. Simple things, like a morning coffee on the way to work or a paid lunch once a week, really stacked up. In total our MVFers helped raise an incredible £500 for Action for Children through pledges alone.

The pledges were part of our fundraising for Byte Night, the UK’s largest corporate sleep out event raising funds for Action for Children to prevent youth homelessness. Our Byte Night team managed to raise an incredible £3,000 in total, which was matched by MVF to be a massive £6,000 donation for this deserving cause.

As Stoptober comes to a close, we asked some of our MVFers how they fared giving up some of their creature comforts:

Jared Keleher, Senior SEO Manager: “I gave up an extra pint on a Friday night. It felt good to know that my money was going to great cause, but it feels even greater waking up with a clearer head on a Saturday.”

Alex Mandel, Product Manager: “For Stoptober I wanted to kill two birds with one stone; topping up the wonderful contributions from friends, family and colleagues to support Action for Children as part of Byte Night, and trying to get a handle on my insatiable appetite for sweets and chocolate. The first two weeks were tough but it’s getting easier now.”
