MVF’s Christmas Charity Pub Quiz

Everyone knows that MVF are big on company socials and Christmas time at our headquarters is pretty exciting to say the least.

Last Wednesday 10th December we hosted the annual MVF Christmas Charity Pub Quiz at our favourite local hangout, The Grafton.

The night was a huge success and the biggest turnout to date with 11 teams competing for the grand prize; a bottle of prosecco and the prestigious MVF Pub Quiz Champions trophy.

We have many geniuses amongst the MVF clan so the pub quiz provides the perfect platform to showcase our brilliant minds (and we love any excuse for a competition!).

The questions were written by the SEO department’s Nigel Vaughan who put our general knowledge, mental arithmetic, cream cracker eating and paper aeroplane making skills to the test.

In true festive spirit, each round had a special Christmas theme, which proved delightful for the music sections where everyone had a jolly sing along!

Our esteemed quizmaster was Kester Hodgson who was joined by his glamorous assistant, Dan Braham.

The atmosphere in the room was tense with eyes focused intently on the prize, but there could only be one team who emerged victorious.

Once again the Tech team, aka “Tech yourself before you wreck yourself” scooped first place, meaning they hold onto their title as Pub Quiz Champions.

John Felton of “Tech yourself before you wreck yourself” comments on winning for a second time: “When the second MVF quiz came around, the Tech team was definitely feeling the pressure. More teams, more people and this time everyone knew who they had to beat.

But after a couple of bad opening rounds, and thanks to the addition of team member Gus “Crackers” Reed we finally started to get some answers flowing.

We knew we earned those whoops and cheers when the results were read out.”

For the past few weeks, our CSR committee has also been selling tickets for the Christmas raffle which promised some incredible prizes.

Jon Whiting from SEO won some Bose wireless headphones. He said: “I was thrilled to win such a great gift so close to Christmas, a fantastic way to end the year!”

Simon Akers from the sales division bagged a Minirig speaker which caused uproar in the audience as he recently won an iPad at the last raffle.

The quiz and raffle combined managed to raise just under £500 for Alne Hall, a Leonard Cheshire care home.

Huge thanks to our CSR committee for organising the event!
