MVF Cyber Security Day: Protecting Our Crown Jewels

With National Cyber Security Month this October putting cyber awareness at the top of everyone’s mind, we took the opportunity to educate MVFers with our own Cyber Security Day.

Featuring the launch of a new information security elearning module, a lunchtime talk by a cybercrime specialist and some great prizes up for grabs; every MVFer had a reason to get excited for Cyber Security Day!

Our campaign kicked off during Cyber Security Month with security tips and announcements shared with teams via our internal communications channels.

By sharing interesting case studies and practical security tips, MVFers built up a familiarity with cyber security practices they could implement every day.

At 11am on our Cyber Security Day, we launched the new information security elearning module ‘Protecting our Crown Jewels’.

The module covered everything from how to deal with suspicious emails, to the best practices for creating a strong password and how social media can make you an easy target for cyber crime.

Those who passed with top marks were in with the chance to win some extra special MVF branded prizes, including a portable charger and bluetooth headphones.

Events continued with a lunch and learn talk ‘Hunting the Hackers: How Cyber Criminals Operate’ by guest speaker Lisa Forte.

Lisa took us behind the scenes of how to think like a cybercriminal and we found out how they choose a victim and how seemingly useless information can be used against you.

Lisa told us about some of the most interesting cases from her background of working with British Intelligence, and finished with her top tips for staying safe online.

As well the educational posters now placed around MVF’s offices, every MVFer was given a laptop sticker as a helpful reminder to remain vigilant about keeping information safe all year round
